The aim of the Type Rating Instructor (TRI) course is to provide suitable candidates with the relevant flight training, skills and attitide, in order to enable them to instruct on a variety of airplane types.
The privileges of the holder of a TRI rating are to instruct license holders for the issue of a multi-pilot aeroplane type rating and the instruction required for multi-crew co-operation.
- Be at least 18 yrs old
- Hold a CPL, MPL or ATPL with the rating for which instruction is to be given
- Valid type rating/IR on corresponding airplane type;
- 1 500 hours flight time as a pilot on multi-pilot airplanes;
- Have completed, within the 12 months preceding the date of application, 30 route sectors, including take-offs and landings, as PIC or co-pilot on the applicable airplane type, of which 15 sectors may be completed in an FFS representing that type.
